This Chicken Parm is lightened up by using the air fryer to cook it. I also used whole wheat bread crumbs and reduced fat cheese to cut a few more calories without missing out on any flavor. In the end this chicken ends up perfectly crisp on the outside and loaded up with good Italian flavors in the sauce and cheese on top. It’s quick and easy to toss together so it’s perfect for weeknight dinners!
Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan
Ingredients
- 1 C. Flour
- 2 Whole Large Eggs, Whisked
- 1/2 C. Whole Wheat Bread Crumbs
- 1 Tsp. Hot Sh!t Seasoning
- Salt & Pepper to Taste
- 2 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast (1 Lb.), Pounded out to 1/2" Thickness
- 1/2 C. Marinara Sauce
- 1/2 C. Shredded Reduced Fat Mozzarella Cheese
- Chopped Fresh Parsley
Instructions
- Lightly coat the air fryer basket with non-stick spray and set aside.
- Set the dredging station up with the 1 C. Flour in one shallow bowl or dish, the 2 Whisked Whole Large Eggs in another dish, and the 1/2 C. Whole Wheat Bread Crumbs, 1 Tsp. Hot Sh!t Seasoning and Salt & Pepper to Taste in the third.
- Place the chicken into flour first and coat evenly, shaking any loose flour off.
- Dip the floured chicken into the egg to coat evenly again.
- Finally, press the chicken into the bread crumb mixture, again to coat evenly.
- Set into or on the air fryer basket. Rinse and repeat for the remaining chicken.
- Give the chicken a light coat of non-stick cooking spray.
- When ready to cook, place the basket into the air fryer and cook at 400 degrees F. for 8 minutes. Flip the chicken over and cook for another 8 minutes or until browned and crisp.
- Once done, remove from the air fryer and top each chicken breast with 1/4 C. of the 1/2 C. Marinara Sauce and 1/4 C. of the Shredded Reduced Fat Mozzarella Cheese.
- Place it back into the air fryer to cook at 400 degrees F. for 1-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the air fryer when it's done and garnish with fresh parsley to enjoy right away.
