Biscuits & Gravy Ring

It doesn’t get much simpler than biscuits and gravy, but here today we have biscuits and a homemade gravy. Now, I know what you’re thinking. Homemade gravy? That sounds hard! Actually - It’s totally not! It’s super easy to make and tastes GREAT. So ditch the prepackaged BS!

This gravy is made easily with breakfast sausage that’s cooked up, tossed with flour, and then brought to a simmer with some milk. Yep. That’s it. easy peasy, right? This ENTIRE recipe only needs 4 ingredients, plus salt and pepper.

To lighten the gravy up, I did two minor swaps that made a MAJOR difference. The first was to use a turkey breakfast sausage. And the second was to use an unsweetened almond milk instead of regular. (I always have problems with low fat and fat free cows milk breaking when it comes to gravy so I stick with the almond milk instead.)

In the end, this Biscuits & Gravy Ring is a breakfast of champions. It’s great to make on the weekends for a weekend morning breakfast or brunch OR to have on hand as a meal prep for the week to come!

Biscuits and a homemade gravy make this Biscuits & Gravy Ring a breakfast that everyone can enjoy! Lightened up and so easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 Lb. Turkey Breakfast Sausage
  • 1/3 C. Flour
  • 3 C. Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • 1 (16 Oz.) Can Refrigerated Biscuits
  • Salt & Pepper to Taste

Instructions

  1. Place the 1 Lb.  sausage in a skillet and cook it through entirely according to package directions.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium and sprinkle the 1/2 C. flour over the sausage and continue to cook for a minute or so.
  3. Slowly whisk in the 3 C. milk and bring it all to a simmer.
  4. Cook until thickened and season with salt & pepper to taste.
  5. Once done, remove from the heat and set aside.
  6. Lightly coat the inside of an oven safe 10" dish with non-stick baking spray.
  7. Cut each biscuit into 4 pieces and line them around the edge of the pan to make a ring.
  8. Pour the gravy into the middle and place it in the oven to bake for 20-30 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and enjoy!

Notes:

Going vegetarian? Use a vegetarian breakfast sausage instead!
