Way back in the day there was this amazing microwavable caramel corn that was my most favorite movie night treat in all the world. And… then it disappeared off store shelves to never be seen again. What’s a girl to do? Well, apparently it’s not enjoy warm gooey caramel popcorn for years and years until they stumble across the notion that they can just make it themself.

This caramel corn takes it a step further. It’s able to be homemade with all your own ingredients and with little time and effort. And let me just tell you, this stuff is delicious!…

Camp Out Trail Mix

This past week, my girl turned 9 years old! As part of her ‘birthday week’ of celebration she got to miss out on a couple days of school so that we could go with a few of her friends to a local kids resort. The theme of the resort is a lodge style camp setting. And since I’m always looking to take snacks to keep on hand during our trips, I decided to mix us up a batch of camping themed trial mix!

This trail mix is full of fun little bits that I tried to keep somewhat ‘healthified’. One of the first things I think about with camping is tents and firewood. So I used some bugle chips and pretzel sticks! After that I aded some fish and bears. I mean, hopefully you won’t see a bear while out camping, but bears are out in the woods so…

I'm always super excited around here for the release of movies. It's always been fun to have themed movie nights where I create dished inspired by the movie we're watching. One of the last movies we saw was 'Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie' at the drive in movie theater this summer. It was really such a fun kids movie. So, I thought with it about to be released that I would make a Captain Underpants themed treat!

Eee! I'm so excited to be sharing one of my most cherished childhood movies with my little girl this week that I just had to celebrate with the perfect movie night snacks! The Land Before Time movies are ones that I watched regularly when I was about my daughter's age. I've been spinning my wheels trying to come up with some fun movie night ideas and popcorn recipes to tie into the theme and The Land Before Time characters. Skinny Brown Bag Taco Popcorn (On the Cob or Not!)

I've got to admit, I'm not exactly a huge fan of popcorn. Ugh! I know. I really wish I was. But, I do have a lot of popcorn fans in my family. ... Okay, so pretty much everyone else but me is a huge over-the-top popcorn lover.

As the season has it, I happened to get popping corn on the cob in my local produce box the past couple of weeks. I've had it sitting with my other dry produce on the counter for a while, looking at it and waiting. I was trying to decide what exactly I wanted to do with it when popped. Personally, if I'm going to eat popcorn, I like for it to have a really fun and amazing flavor. I find that it helps get me more interested in it.
